For men, hair straightener can be used in a salon with a qualified stylist. This changes the hair so that it lays flatter, but the effect can cause some dryness. To avoid this, men who have their hair straightened should use plenty of conditioner to keep their hair moisturized. By the time the hair has grown out and the effect of the men’s hair straightener is gone, it will be time to straighten it again.
Hair straightening for men is much the same as hair straightening for women, including the use of a flat iron. A flat iron looks like a curling iron, but the warn end of the appliance is flattened instead of round. To use a flat iron, create small sections of hair and place each one between the two flat sections of the flat iron. The heat will creating the flattening effect as the flat iron is pressed against the hair. After each section of hair is flattened, choose another until all of the hair has been straightened.
Like women’s hair, men’s hair should be gelled or sprayed after using the flat iron to help it to stay straight longer. Working a small dot of hair gel through the hair by hand after using the flat iron will keep it straight all day. Alternatively, men can spray the hair lightly with hair spray or spray gel to keep the hair straight without making it stiff.
